Q: Why did you start #CrossFit?
A: I had a high school friend who had started CrossFit and was totally in love with it. She and her husband decided to open their own box and offered to give me a heck of a deal in the beginning if I wanted to try it out. I did my first class on 11/4/2011 and have been hooked ever since.
Q: Why Octane?
A: I love the #CrossFitCommunity. I want to be at a box and around people that share the same message and desire to be better and #healthier. Octane embodies what I want to portray to others and is taking risks to reach as many people as possible. That is infectious and something I want to be a part of!
Q: #Goals for the year?
A: Well, I am going to be 40 in January and I think it would be totally rad to have a gnarly set of #abs to celebrate with but aside from that vanity, I just want to be as #healthy as I can. I want to continue to improve my skills, get new #PR’s and I want to affect change in others around me by my actions and behaviors. A #BarMuscle up followed by a #RingMuscleUp will be on my goals list until they happen too. I also would love to help others get their #nutrition dialed in and make lifelong changes for their #health.
Q: Any advice for the new members?
A: Keep coming back. It works if you work it (stolen from my time in AA). Nutrition is the FOUNDATION. If you are not paying attention to what you are eating, and making #HealthyChoices, you are not getting the full benefit of what CrossFit can do for you and your health. Have patience, allow yourself to be ok with being a beginner and learn to move well first – then go fast. Talk to people!!! I promise you will make some amazing connections if you just open up to people and get real!
